Amtrak Police is excited to offer internship opportunities for the Summer of 2024. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement within the transportation sector. As an intern, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced professionals, gain practical experience, and contribute to the safety and security of Amtrak operations.
- Support daily law enforcement activities under the guidance of Amtrak Police officers.
- Assist in conducting investigations and compiling relevant reports.
- Participate in patrols of Amtrak facilities, trains, and stations.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure the safety and security of passengers and employees.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of law enforcement procedures.
- Provide support during special events and emergencies.
- Engage with the community to build positive relationships and enhance public safety awareness.
- Currently enrolled in a Criminal Justice or related field at an accredited university or college.
- Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Availability to work a full-time schedule during the internship period.
While previous law enforcement experience is not required, candidates with relevant coursework or experience in criminal justice, security, or related fields will be considered favorably.
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication in both written and verbal forms.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
